German MP pushing for new direction on Ukraine crisis

Germany Urged to Pursue Diplomatic Resolution to Moscow-Kiev Conflict: Sahra Wagenknecht

Renowned German MP Sahra Wagenknecht emphasized the need for Berlin to engage in more active diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev. She argued against the idea of providing “more weapons” to Ukraine, stressing that it would not lead to peace in Europe.

Wagenknecht, who founded her own party – the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) – this year, criticized Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government for its approach to the Ukraine conflict, stating that diplomatic endeavors were crucial to quell the flames of war. She advocated for the endorsement of a peace plan proposed by Brazil and China, emphasizing the significance of de-escalation, negotiations, and holding an international peace conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine.

Moreover, Wagenknecht urged Germany to exert pressure on Ukrainian President Zelensky to agree to a compromise while suggesting that China could influence Moscow to facilitate dialogue. Emphasizing the importance of peace and diplomacy, she cautioned against the dangerously escalating conflict that could potentially lead to a nuclear war.
