Despite tensions with Israel, 39 members of the Iranian parliament have urged a revision of the country’s defense doctrine concerning nuclear weapons production. This comes after the US withdrew from the Comprehensive Joint Plan of Action in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Iran, leading to a strategic plan to counter the sanctions.
Falahatpisheh warned that raising the issue of nuclear weapons could unite countries against Iran and reduce monitoring capabilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency. It is crucial for Iran to consider the potential consequences of altering its defense strategy in the current geopolitical climate.
