Two Filipino carers in South Korea left their workplace without permission and were found working illegally in cleaning jobs. The Philippine government cited excessive surveillance as the reason for their unauthorized departure and urged other Filipino workers to comply with immigration laws.
Hans Leo Cacdac, the secretary of the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers, mentioned that they are waiting for the results of the investigation by South Korean authorities. The government is also providing legal assistance to ensure fair treatment during the investigation.
Reports from Filipino media outlet GMA revealed that the carers faced difficulties due to alleged overwork and surveillance. They found new employment as cleaners and were apprehended in Busan. Bernard Olalia, undersecretary of the DMW, confirmed their situation.
