Ex-Bayelsa APC chair deems Lokpobiri, Lyon’s suspension illegal

A former Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Ogeibiri Enkumor, has strongly criticized the recent suspension of Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and other key party figures for alleged anti-party activities. Enkumor emphasized that the suspension is baseless due to the absence of a valid party executive in the state.

He highlighted that a court order nullified the party congresses, leading to the lack of legitimate party officials from the state level to the ward level. Therefore, the suspension lacks legal standing and should be disregarded. Enkumor also praised Lokpobiri’s leadership within the party.

Additionally, another APC chieftain in Bayelsa, Alex Blackson, has called on the National Working Committee to address the misunderstanding surrounding the suspensions. Blackson emphasized the need to establish an acting committee to restore order within the state chapter and urged security agencies to monitor those causing trouble within the party.

This controversy underscores the internal challenges within the Bayelsa APC and the importance of due process in party disciplinary actions.
