Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan addressed the misperception in Türkiye that the Armenian Diaspora is hindering the normalization of Armenia-Türkiye relations. Rubinyan, Armenia’s special representative for normalization with Türkiye, emphasized that the Diaspora’s stance is not the obstacle to the process.
He highlighted that in the early 2010s, Armenia was willing to normalize relations without preconditions during the football diplomacy era when the protocols were signed. Rubinyan pointed out that the main hindrance to the Armenia-Türkiye normalization is the lack of political decision within Türkiye itself, stressing the importance of keeping the normalization process bilateral.
Rubinyan reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to immediately open the border, underscoring the country’s commitment to the normalization process. By addressing misconceptions and emphasizing the need for political determination in Türkiye, Rubinyan aims to pave the way for progress in bilateral relations.
