West Sacrificing Economy, Military Readiness to Back Ukraine – Analyst
Sputnik International
The ongoing Ukraine proxy war has highlighted the vulnerabilities of Western militaries as they struggle to support Kiev. Serbian-American journalist Nebojsa Malic recently pointed out that the US and its European allies are depleting their own military and economic resources in a futile attempt to counter Russia.
According to Malic, Western countries face challenges in supplying arms to Ukraine, with Russia producing significantly more artillery than the US and its European partners combined. The conflict has exposed the contrasting defense production models between the West’s privatized contractors and Moscow’s state-owned industry.
Furthermore, while Russia has demonstrated adaptability in its military operations, Western forces are ill-prepared for large-scale conflicts against formidable opponents like Russia. Malic also highlighted the economic consequences faced by European countries, including Germany’s industrial struggles and the strain of accommodating Ukrainian refugees.
As tensions escalate, NATO’s capacity for prolonged conflict is questioned, signaling a potential shift towards nuclear warfare. The escalating situation in Ukraine underscores the need for a reevaluation of Western military strategies and economic priorities.
