Tragedy Strikes Kunj Alizai: 11 Dead, 8 Injured in Shooting Incidents
Tragedy struck Kunj Alizai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district as at least 11 people lost their lives and eight were left injured in a series of shooting incidents. The grim news was confirmed by Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javidullah Mehsud and Mir Hassan, the medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital.
DC Mehsud reported that the violence took place in the Kunj Alizai mountains near the Pak-Afghan border, with additional shootings occurring on the roads in the area. The injured were rushed to the hospital, where sadly, one person succumbed to their injuries and three others remain in critical condition.
The recent unrest is a setback for efforts to bring peace to the region, as jirga members were already present for a peace agreement between tribes. This incident follows previous episodes of violence over land disputes that claimed dozens of lives.
The authorities are working diligently to restore law and order while engaging local jirgas and forming land commissions to address underlying issues.
