The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has taken a significant step towards NATO compliance by establishing separate supervisory boards for the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) and the Non-lethal Defense Rear Agency (DOT). Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the formation of these boards, following a shake-up in ministry personnel.
Initially planning to merge the DPA and DOT, Umerov changed course after NATO recommendations to keep them separate. The appointment of Serhiy Boyev and Serhiy Melnykas as Umerov’s deputies signifies a move towards international standards and increased transparency in the defense sector.
By including Ukrainian and international experts on the supervisory boards, the ministry aims to integrate foreign experience and minimize corruption risks. The boards will provide independent control over processes and foster trust with both domestic and international partners.
