Putin, Iran strengthen ties amidst Israel-Iran tension

Moscow and Tehran are strengthening their ties, with Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing their close cooperation in the international arena during a meeting with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. The two leaders discussed their shared views on global events, emphasizing the significant complementary capacities between Iran and Russia.

Putin highlighted the growing economic relations between Moscow and Tehran, especially in military cooperation post-Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The European Union is planning to impose sanctions on individuals or organizations involved in the Iranian transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia.

Iran’s criticism of Israel amid regional tensions

Pezeshkian condemned Israel’s actions in the Middle East and called for an end to the killing of innocent people. Iran’s Ambassador to the UN labeled Israel a threat to international peace, while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned of Iran’s global impact through the “axis of resistance.”

Israel faces escalating conflict with Iran and its proxies, prompting discussions of retaliatory strikes. The IDF-Hezbollah conflict has intensified, leading to clashes in southern Lebanon. Diplomatic talks between Israel and the US continue, with no immediate decision on further actions.
