PTI Announces Protest as Government Tightens Security for SCO Summit

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has set a date for a protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 15, even as the government gears up to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of Government Council (CHG) summit in the federal capital. With more than 10,000 police and paramilitary forces deployed for the security of over 900 delegates, including high-profile officials like Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the smooth conduct of the 23rd SCO summit on Oct 15 and 16.

Amid preparations for the summit, the PTI has raised concerns about the treatment of its leader, Imran Khan, calling for the restoration of his rights and demanding the release of detained party members. Despite warnings from the government, the PTI remains steadfast in its decision to hold a protest at D-Chowk on Oct 15.

As tensions rise and security measures tighten, the nation waits to see how events will unfold on the day of the protest amidst the prestigious SCO summit taking place in Islamabad.
