President Masoud Pezeshkian recently spoke at an international conference in Ashgabat honoring the 300th anniversary of Turkmen poet Makhtumquli Faraghi. At the event, themed “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development,” Pezeshkian praised the longstanding friendship between Iran and Turkmenistan, emphasizing their shared cultural heritage and historical ties.

He highlighted the role of Islamic teachings in strengthening cultural bonds between Iran and Central Asia and warned against the growing threat of extremism. Pezeshkian called for unity within the Islamic community and on the global stage to combat unilateralism and promote international peace.

Pezeshkian also acknowledged the contributions of literary figures like Ferdowsi, Saadi, and Rudaki in preserving the culture of the region. He specifically commended Makhtumquli Faraghi for his significant impact on Turkmen language and culture through his poetry.

In closing, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan’s government for hosting the event and emphasized the importance of continued cultural cooperation in preserving and promoting shared literary and cultural treasures.
