Ogun dry port to boost trade and job creation – Minister

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, broke ground for the Gateway Inland Dry Port, aiming to set a standard for Inland Dry Ports in Nigeria. The Port, to be built in Kajola, Ewekoro Local Government, will boast cutting-edge digital systems to enhance efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness.

With a promise to create jobs and stimulate local businesses, Oyetola emphasized the project’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, striving for innovation, economic growth, and infrastructural development. The Minister highlighted the necessity of Inland Dry Ports in easing congestion at traditional seaports, ultimately benefiting Nigeria’s economy.

Collaboration between the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and Ogun State Government aims to develop a state-of-the-art facility integrating advanced technology for seamless operations. The Inland Dry Port, once operational, will boost efficiency in the logistics network and promote environmental sustainability.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, anticipates the Port to enhance industrial activity, manufacturing, and ease of doing business in the State, solidifying its position as a strategic logistics and industrial hub in Nigeria and West Africa.
