Official: Azerbaijan faces crucial challenge of preventing info space pollution (UPDATE)

Addressing the challenges of information pollution and professionalism in Azerbaijani media, Executive Director Ahmad Ismayilov highlighted the importance of the conference “New Trends in Modern Media: Information Security and Professionalism Criteria” in Baku. He emphasized the significance of discussions on media issues for the country’s socio-political life, reflecting on the legacy of former leader Heydar Aliyev in abolishing censorship in 1998.

Under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, media reforms have been prioritized, with the establishment of the Media Development Agency and the signing of a media law in 2022. These reforms aim to enhance media professionalism, promote accurate information, and strengthen trust between the public and media.

Notably, the Shusha Global Media Forum has become a tradition, focusing on themes like the Fourth Industrial Revolution and combating disinformation. Ismayilov highlighted the forum’s role in discussing innovative solutions to address challenges posed by disinformation in the digital age.

President Aliyev’s speeches at global media forums underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening Azerbaijan’s standing, emphasizing the importance of unity and civic solidarity for the nation’s success. Ismayilov expressed confidence that the ideas discussed in the conference will contribute to enhancing the media’s professional activities.
