Norway Allocates $87.5 Million to Boost Defense Industry and Support Ukraine

Norway’s government has pledged to allocate nearly $87.5 million to strengthen its defense industry, with a specific emphasis on aiding Ukraine during Russia’s ongoing invasion. The funds will be used to support the production of critical components necessary for air defense missiles and munitions vital for Ukraine’s defense.

Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance Norway’s defense capabilities. Additionally, Norway will provide assistance to small and medium-sized Norwegian companies working on technologies essential for the Ukrainian armed forces.

Furthermore, Norway has also allocated $9.5 million to evacuate severely wounded Ukrainians for treatment in Europe. The country’s commitment to supporting Ukraine has been praised by President Zelensky, expressing gratitude to the Norwegian Prime Minister and Parliament.

Norway ranks 12th globally in providing aid to Ukraine, with $2.6 billion already contributed in humanitarian, financial, and military support. This commitment signifies Norway’s strong solidarity with Ukraine during these challenging times.
