Nelson Mandela’s grandson banned from UK for Gaza events

Zwelivelile ‘Mandla’ Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, was recently denied entry to the UK for speaking engagements due to his support for Palestine and Hamas. This decision came after concerns were raised about his “inflammatory rhetoric,” including praise for slain Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani and support for Hamas.

Despite the visa issues, Mandela is still expected to visit Ireland, where his views align more with the country’s stance on Palestinian groups. Mandela, like his grandfather, remains a vocal supporter of Palestine and refuses to be silenced in his advocacy for justice and human rights.

The Sheffield Palestine Coalition, who had organized an event featuring Mandela, had to move the talk to Zoom after he was unable to travel to the UK due to visa restrictions. They expressed disappointment at the obstruction of pro-Palestine speakers and vowed to continue efforts to bring Mandela to Sheffield in the future.

Despite facing challenges, Mandela remains committed to championing his legacy of standing up for the oppressed and advocating for justice, echoing the fearless spirit of his late grandfather.
