Russia confirmed that Donald Trump sent the Kremlin COVID-19 tests in the early days of the pandemic, supporting claims made by journalist Bob Woodward. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov acknowledged receiving test kits from the Trump administration, contradicting Trump’s denial.
Woodward’s book claimed Trump sent Putin Covid test machines, to which Putin asked Trump to keep it a secret. Peskov did not confirm if those tests were for Putin’s personal use.
The Kremlin’s response contradicts Trump’s denial of the claims. Trump’s spokesperson dismissed Woodward’s stories as untrue, although Woodward reported several calls between Trump and Putin after leaving office.
Woodward’s claims have reignited scrutiny on Trump’s ties with Putin, drawing criticism from Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Despite Putin’s actions in Ukraine, Trump continues to express admiration for the Russian leader.
