Israeli blockade causes ‘catastrophe’ at besieged Gaza hospital

At Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, medical staff face a dire situation as fuel and medical supplies run low. Israeli forces have issued expulsion orders for three major hospitals, trapping over 300 critically ill patients, including children in the ICU. Despite this, the hospital’s director refuses to evacuate, fearing it could be deadly for patients.

The hospital is under siege, with fuel running out and lives at risk, especially in the intensive care unit. The staff urgently appeals for fuel, warning of a potential health disaster if not delivered within 24 hours. The situation is compounded by Israeli forces blocking aid access to northern hospitals. Amidst escalating tensions, the World Health Organization’s attempts at medical evacuations have been hindered, further endangering patients.

Urgent Appeal for Intervention

The Ministry of Health pleads for fuel and food to be allowed into the region, highlighting the critical condition of children in intensive care. The international community is called upon to intervene as the situation worsens. The World Health Organization chief denounces the deliberate destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system as a war crime, emphasizing the urgent need to protect hospitals and medical personnel.
