Iranian Parliament Speaker urges regional parliamentary unity pact – Politics news

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, proposed a “Parliamentary Convergence Pact” among regional nations at the International Conference in Dushanbe, marking the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Constitution. This initiative aims to address shared challenges like terrorism and climate change, promoting peace and sustainable development.

Qalibaf emphasized the deep cultural and historical bond between Iran and Tajikistan, highlighting the potential for collaboration in culture, education, and science. He also noted the economic opportunities for joint projects in infrastructure, energy, and industry, leveraging Tajikistan’s resources.

Furthermore, Qalibaf condemned the actions of the Israeli regime and called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. He proposed the establishment of a joint parliamentary council to foster dialogue and mutual understanding in the region, ultimately achieving long-term stability and prosperity.

While acknowledging progress in Iran-Tajikistan relations, Qalibaf stressed the untapped potential for deeper cooperation. He affirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Tajikistan’s development and strengthening their strategic partnership based on historical and cultural ties.
