Iran Press/ America: At a UN Security Council meeting on Lebanon, Iranian representative Amir-Saeed Iravani asserted Iran’s right to self-defense under international law. Iran’s Operation True Promise II was launched in response to Israel’s violation of Iranian sovereignty through the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Iravani emphasized Iran’s commitment to self-defense within legal boundaries and called for international aid to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Lebanon. He urged the Security Council to take immediate action for a ceasefire and hold Israel accountable for its actions in Lebanon and Palestine.
Addressing the ongoing conflict, Iravani urged Israel to comply with UN Resolution 1701 and respect Lebanon’s sovereignty. The Israeli regime’s attacks on Gaza and southern Lebanon have resulted in over 44,000 deaths. The international community must intervene to ensure aid reaches affected populations and bring an end to the violence.
Iran’s call for accountability and justice underscores the urgency of the situation, emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution and respect for international law.
