The Foreign Ministry has expressed its concern about the targeting of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and underscores its crucial role amidst regional tensions.

Greece stresses that the safety and security of UN personnel and property must be ensured,” the ministry stated.

Two UN peacekeepers were recently injured in an Israeli strike near their watchtower in south Lebanon. The incident occurred during clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, leading to renewed calls for ensuring the peacekeepers’ safety.

France, the US, and Russia have all responded to the situation, emphasizing the importance of protecting UNIFIL forces in Lebanon. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced the attacks on UN personnel, while the Israeli military expressed remorse for the injuries sustained by the peacekeepers.
