EU countries urge cease-fire in Gaza, Lebanon

A call for a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon was made by the leaders of nine southern European countries, including France, Italy, and Spain. They condemned the Israeli violence against U.N. peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, expressing outrage at the injuries sustained by the peacekeepers. The leaders demanded an immediate end to the attacks, citing Security Council Resolution 1701.

Cease-fire ‘indispensable’

Israeli forces’ actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the ongoing conflict in Gaza have raised concerns. Leaders at the summit emphasized the need for a cease-fire in both regions to facilitate talks and prevent further escalation. French President Macron called for an end to weapon shipments to the conflict zones, highlighting the importance of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
