Violence Erupts in Rumamer County: Doctor Killed, Women Missing
In a tragic incident in Rumamer County of the Abyei Administrative Area, a medical doctor was killed and two women are missing following an attack during heavy rains. The criminals, suspected to be from Anyiel-Kuach Village in Twic County, Warrap State, targeted Dr John Chier as he was collecting salaries for his staff.
Rumamer County Commissioner Ayuel Kiir expressed concern over the lack of protection by the South Sudan Defense Force (SSPDF) in the area, leading to increased violence between Abyei and Twic communities. He called for peace and urged authorities to address the conflicts promptly.
The Abyei Chief Administrator’s Spokesperson confirmed the killing and recommended a change in forces to prevent favoritism towards the Twic armed youth attackers. On the other hand, Twic County Commissioner Adhar Akok denied the accusations, attributing the incident to rebels.
As tensions rise, it is crucial for the SSPDF to step up and ensure the safety of the borders, preventing further bloodshed and promoting peace in the region.
