Exciting News from Nigeria Customs Service: Export Boom in Third Quarter of 2024
The Nigeria Customs Service, Lilypond Export Command, Lagos, has announced a record-breaking achievement in processing exports worth $937 million in the third quarter of 2024. This remarkable success was revealed by the command’s Area Controller, Ajibola Odusanya, during a press briefing at the command in Ijora, Lagos.
The exports included a variety of agricultural produce and manufactured goods, with the highest contributions coming from sesame seeds, hibiscus flowers, and manufactured items. In September alone, the command handled 3,363 export containers worth $202 million.
Odusanya highlighted the significant increase in export activities, citing a 407% rise from the previous quarter. The total tonnage of exported goods also saw a remarkable surge, along with a substantial growth in revenue generated through export duties.
This success can be attributed to the consolidation of export operations at the command, which has streamlined processes, improved compliance, and ensured a more efficient and transparent export value chain.
