Conservative Party Leadership Race: Badenoch and Jenrick Remain

The Conservative Party leadership race is heating up, with Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick emerging as the final two contenders after the elimination of James Cleverly. Badenoch, a former trade minister, secured 42 votes in the fourth round, closely followed by Jenrick with 41 votes. Both candidates are known for their strong pro-Israel stance and right-wing views within the party.

Badenoch, considered the favorite to win, has consistently shown her support for Israel, even visiting the Israeli embassy during the Gaza conflict. She has expressed solidarity with Israel and criticized the Labour government’s decision to halt arms exports to the country. On the other hand, Jenrick has pledged to move the UK embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a decision that would break international consensus.

Despite facing criticism for his views on Islam and Gaza, Jenrick remains a strong contender. The winner of the Conservative Party leadership race is set to be announced on 2nd November, and the future direction of the party is eagerly anticipated.
