Excitement and approval surrounded the recent unveiling of domestically produced drones at the Zenica Economic Fair. However, it has now been revealed that these drones were actually imported from China and have no connection to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The drones, presented as the “Tayan-1” by the Center for Technical and Technological Testing Sarajevo, are part of the Chinese company’s Loong family of drones. The company confirmed the model and even offered to sell the same drone, highlighting its accessibility.
Asim Hadzic, the director of the Center, explained that the drones were purchased in Turkey, assembled in BiH, and meant to signify the start of domestic production. Minister Helez’s mention of grenade launcher platforms further solidified the connection to Chinese-made drones, which offer similar equipment.
Despite promises to showcase the drones’ production in BiH, Minister Helez has not followed through. The disappointment in discovering the true origins of these drones underscores the importance of transparency in technological advancements.
