In honor of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, the Women of Glory organization based in Abuja launched the impactful “Pad a Girl” project. This initiative aimed to provide sanitary pads to 1000 school girls while educating them on menstrual hygiene and overall sanitary health.
The project took place at Junior Secondary School Damangaza, Lokogoma-Abuja, where the schoolgirls enthusiastically participated in the awareness session and exuberantly danced in excitement. Lady Lucy Nwajideobi, the president of Women of Glory, emphasized the group’s dedication to women, young girls, and children as a central part of their values.
She highlighted that the ‘Pad a Girl’ initiative aimed to empower the girl child, educate them on sanitary health, amplify their voices, and break stereotypes holding them back. Sylvia Dickson, the Head of Helping Hands, reiterated the organization’s commitment to women’s issues and their essential role in society.
The event also saw Mrs. Maria Olom, a teacher, praising the initiative and encouraging girls to prioritize hygiene and stand up for themselves. The Head Girl of the school, Olujide Elizabeth, expressed gratitude for the enlightenment and hoped for more initiatives like this in the future.
