Abiodun introduces discounted FG rice sales in Ogun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has launched the sale of subsidised rice, with plans to extend the initiative to include other foodstuffs across the twenty local government areas of the state. The scheme aims to provide food items like garri, rice, and beans at heavily discounted prices to residents.

During the official flag-off ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, Abiodun emphasized the importance of strategic and inclusive development. The distribution will cover various groups such as civil servants, private sector workers, artisans, students, market women, and more across the state.

To ensure transparency and accountability, payments will be made through Point of Sales (PoS) machines, with beneficiaries undergoing physical verification. The Governor praised President Bola Tinubu for the initiative and highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to replicating the template in other states.

This initiative, led by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, aims to alleviate food inflation and make essential food items more affordable for the people of Ogun State.
