The International Organization for Migration (IOM) highlighted the plight of migrant workers abandoned by their employers in Lebanon during the crisis. These workers, trapped by the sponsorship system, face passport confiscation and wage withholding.
Challenges for Migrant Workers
Migrant domestic workers in Lebanon are at the mercy of their employers, unable to flee even when danger looms. With the employer’s control over their movements, many are left vulnerable and helpless in times of crisis.
