American General Compiles Wish List of Weapons for Ukraine
The senior American general in Europe, Christopher Cavoli, has put together a wish list of weapons that could potentially aid Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. According to CNN, Cavoli, who heads the US European Command and is a senior NATO commander, has suggested supplying air-launched cruise missiles and other military capabilities to Ukraine.
One of the key weapons mentioned is the AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSM), which have an operational range of 370km and can be deployed by US-built platforms like F-16 fighter jets. Another capability highlighted by Cavoli is the Link 16, a tactical data-sharing system used by NATO members.
While Ukraine has long requested these weapons systems, the US has been hesitant to provide them due to concerns about Russia acquiring sensitive military technology. The report comes as Ukraine awaits a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, where military aid discussions are expected to take place.
President Zelensky of Ukraine recently presented a ‘victory plan’ that includes leveraging Western assistance and deploying long-range weapons, signaling the country’s determination to secure its sovereignty and self-determination.
