Evacuation of Civilians from Lebanon by Türkiye

In coordination with the Turkish Foreign Ministry and National Defense Ministry, Türkiye has begun evacuating civilians, primarily Turkish citizens, from Lebanon due to extensive Israeli attacks. Two amphibious warfare ships, TCG Bayraktar and TCG Sancaktar, have arrived in Beirut Port with humanitarian aid and are preparing for the evacuation process.

The evacuees, which include elderly, women, infants, and children, are boarding the TCG Bayraktar after luggage inspections. The Türkiye Ambassador to Beirut and Rear Admiral Nihat Baran were present to see the civilians off. The TCG Sancaktar will begin boarding procedures after unloading aid.

Amid Israel’s ongoing airstrikes on Lebanon, this evacuation marks a crucial humanitarian effort by Türkiye. Two frigates and patrol boats will accompany the evacuation ships, ensuring safety. Health checks will be conducted by onboard medical staff for both Turks and citizens of other countries seeking help.

This evacuation echoes Türkiye’s previous efforts during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war, showcasing a commitment to assisting citizens in times of crisis. The ships are set to sail back to Türkiye once all procedures are complete, providing a safe journey for those impacted by the conflict.
