Syria reports 7 civilians killed by Israel in Damascus strike

Seven civilians were tragically killed in an Israeli air strike in Damascus, as reported by the Syrian government. The strike targeted a building used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Lebanon’s Hezbollah in the Mazzeh neighborhood of the capital city. Among the casualties were women and children, with the toll expected to rise as rescuers continue to search through the rubble.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the strike hit a building frequented by senior Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah operatives, resulting in at least nine deaths. The footage from the site showed extensive damage, with residents describing the chaos and fear that ensued after the explosion.

Israeli authorities have not provided a statement on the strike, but have maintained their stance on preventing Iran from expanding its influence in the region. The ongoing conflict in Syria has seen alliances shift, with Iran and Hezbollah supporting the Syrian government against opposition forces.

As tensions escalate, hundreds of thousands have been displaced, adding to the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region. The repercussions of these air strikes continue to highlight the volatile situation in the Middle East.
