Israeli Air Strike in Damascus Kills Seven Civilians, Targets Building Used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah
The Syrian capital of Damascus was rocked by a deadly Israeli air strike, targeting a building used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. The strike, which resulted in the death of seven civilians, including women and children, caused extensive damage to a residential and commercial building in the Mazzeh neighborhood.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the targeted building was frequented by senior Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah operatives. The Syrian government condemned the attack, labeling it a “brutal crime against defenseless civilians.”
Residents of the building described the strike as apocalyptic, with one individual stating it felt like “Judgment Day.” Syrian state television confirmed the extensive damage caused by the strike, with the first three floors of the building completely destroyed.
Israeli authorities have not commented on the strike, but have been vocal about preventing Iran from expanding its presence in the region. The incident comes amidst escalating tensions in the ongoing Syrian civil war.
