Plan International prepares girls for mock leadership takeover in roundtable meeting.

Plan International, a global children’s charity, recently hosted a girls-led roundtable discussion addressing issues impacting girls in the community. The meeting included 15 girls from various regions, preparing them for a mock takeover of leadership roles in politics and business.

The event provided a platform for girls to voice their concerns to key stakeholders and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of girls’ empowerment. The Country Director of Plan International South Sudan, Mohammed Kamal, highlighted the significance of the workshop in identifying opportunities for young girls in the country.

Encouraging girls to dream big, Kamal emphasized the role of young girls in shaping the future of South Sudan. Deputy Director Minam Okech from the Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare echoed this sentiment, stating the importance of mentoring young people to assume leadership roles in the country.

This event served as a crucial step towards empowering young girls and fostering their leadership skills. By encouraging girls to believe in themselves and take on responsibilities, the roundtable discussion aimed to inspire and support the future leaders of South Sudan.
