However, Fubara’s term was short-lived, marked by controversies and a power struggle within the State House of Assembly. Only through mediation by President Tinubu did peace return to the region, albeit temporarily. Fubara’s actions following the resolution caused further unrest, leading to protests and violence in the state.
The recent local government elections, dominated by Wike’s camp, exacerbated tensions, culminating in arson attacks and political instability. Urgent action is needed to prevent further chaos and avoid a repeat of past crises that threatened Nigeria’s democracy.
