Only 15% property owners approved by Lagos govt

Welcome to the Lagos Physical Planning Summit!

A recent disclosure by the Lagos State Government revealed that only 15% of property owners in the state have building approvals, with 75% complying with physical planning laws. This statistic highlights the need for a comprehensive review of urban development plans to meet infrastructure demands and create investment opportunities for all stakeholders.

Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, and Gbenga Omotoso, the Information and Strategy counterpart, shared these insights during a media briefing. They announced the upcoming Physical Planning Summit, scheduled for October 15 and 16 at Victoria Island, Lagos. Stakeholders from various sectors will gather to brainstorm innovative solutions for the state’s development challenges.

The summit’s theme, ‘Thinking Lagos: A new vision for a regional and integrated megacity,’ aims to address issues in physical planning across the state. By increasing building approvals and compliance, the government seeks to enhance the overall urban landscape and infrastructure. The event will feature discussions on building demolitions, strategic master plans, and collaboration with international partners like the World Bank and AfDB.

Join us at the summit as we rethink Lagos and pave the way for a smarter, sustainable city!
