Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his likely swearing-in as the head of the BJP government in the state
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday ahead of his likely swearing-in as the head of the BJP government in the state following the party’s remarkable win in the assembly polls. In addition to the Prime Minister, Saini also met President Droupadi Murmu, Union Minister JP Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The BJP had indicated during the elections that Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar in March and hails from the Other Backward Classes, will be its choice for the top post if it wins.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Saini credited PM Modi’s policies for the party’s success.
He said psephologists might have declared the Congress as the favorite to win the polls but he always insisted that people will put their trust in the BJP due to its government’s policies.
To a question about the Congress raising doubts on EVMs, he said the opposition party has been building up a storm of lies.
He said, “The credit of this big win goes to Modi who brought such schemes in the last 10 years that benefitted the poor, farmers, youth, and women. These helped all sections of the society. People love him, and hence the BJP is coming to power for a third time.”
PM Modi said on X that he congratulated Saini on the party’s historic win and expressed confidence that the role of Haryana will become more important in the resolve of building ‘viksit Bharat’.
Taking to X, Saini wrote, “On the occasion of BJP’s magnificent victory in Haryana, today I made a courtesy visit to respected Mrs. Draupadi Murmu ji and sought her guidance. He also praised the welfare schemes run in Haryana. I express my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency the President for this warm greeting and guidance. Your dedication towards national service and welfare of every section of the society is exemplary.”
Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday also met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. “Met the country’s illustrious Honorable Defense Minister Mr Rajnath Singh and congratulated Haryana on its historic victory and received his guidance. The spectacular hat-trick of victories in Haryana has proved that the people of the state have faith in the strong and capable leadership of the BJP and its policies of good governance and development.”
“On the tremendous victory in Haryana, today I met the National President of BJP and Union Minister Shri JP Nadda ji in New Delhi and received his guidance. The President congratulated all the God-like workers. This victory has been achieved due to the hard work of the workers under your leadership. Thank you for your love and affection. On this occasion, State President of BJP Mr Mohanlal Badoli Ji and State Organization General Secretary Phanindranath Sarma Ji were present,” he said on X.
Bucking anti-incumbency, the ruling BJP pulled off a hat-trick of wins in Haryana to retain power and halt Congress’ comeback attempt in the assembly elections, results of which were announced Tuesday.
While the BJP ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress, parties like the JJP and the AAP were decimated and the INLD managed to win just two seats. The AAP had contested on its own.
