Workers Abandoned Amid Israel’s War in Lebanon: The Plight of Migrant Workers
Amid the conflict in Lebanon, migrant and domestic workers face heightened peril as they are abandoned by the families they served, who have fled the war-torn areas. Struggling to find transportation and lacking access to crucial belongings and documents, these workers are left isolated and vulnerable.
Local activists are working tirelessly to provide emergency relief, including safe shelters, food, water, and essential hygiene products. However, the marginalised migrant worker community remains overlooked in relief efforts, facing discrimination and a lack of resources.
Volunteers and organisations like armLebanon are advocating for the rights of migrant workers, emphasizing the need for safe shelters and essential supplies for these vulnerable individuals. Despite the challenges, these activists continue their efforts to support and protect migrant workers during the crisis.
As migrant workers share their harrowing experiences of abandonment and struggle for survival, the international community is urged to include them in response efforts and provide the necessary support to ensure their safety and well-being amidst the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.
