The bustling city of Istanbul recently hosted a symposium delving into the complex Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Titled “Israeli-Palestinian Issue and International Law: Changing Dimensions in Its First Year,” the event at Istanbul University scrutinized Israel’s attacks on Palestine post-Oct. 7, 2023, through various lenses, particularly focusing on international law.
In his opening address, Istanbul University rector Prof. Osman Bulent Zulfikar emphasized the significance of examining the conflict from legal, humanitarian, political, and commercial perspectives. He underscored the global importance of resolving the longstanding issue for peace and security.
The symposium also featured a screening of a documentary exposing Israel’s war crimes in Gaza and highlighted the deliberate targeting of journalists by Israel. Anadolu’s academy and publications coordinator, Yahya Bostan, highlighted the role of media organizations in shedding light on the atrocities in the region.
As the international community grapples with the ongoing crisis, voices advocating for justice and standing against these violations must be raised to address the humanitarian crisis effectively.
