Israel hits Damascus with missile strike, 7 dead

Syrian Ministry Condemns Israeli Air Raid on Damascus

The Syrian foreign ministry has strongly denounced the recent Israeli air raid on the capital city of Damascus. The attack, which occurred in the Mezzah neighborhood, resulted in the deaths of 7 individuals, including women and children, as well as injuries to many others.

In response to the assault, the Syrian military reported that Israeli missiles struck a residential building in a densely-populated area, causing significant damage to property. The ministry criticized the aggression as a brutal crime against defenseless civilians, emphasizing that it was part of a pattern of Israeli bloodshed in the region.

While the Iranian embassy in Damascus condemned the strike as a terrorist act, Syria has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council to intervene and halt these violations of its sovereignty. The attack is seen as part of Israel’s ongoing targeting of military positions in Syria, particularly those of Hezbollah, in response to the Syrian government’s successful efforts against terrorism.

Despite the lack of official comments from Israel, these strikes continue to raise concerns about the stability of the region and the impact on civilian populations. The need for international intervention to protect Syria’s territorial integrity remains a pressing issue.
