Hospital in the Home program receives .4M boost for remote treatments

Great news for patients in New South Wales! The NSW government is expanding the Hospital in the Home (HITH) program with a $31.4 million boost. This expansion will allow an additional 3500 patients to receive medical treatment from the comfort of their own homes, reducing the strain on hospital resources and cutting down wait times.

Last year, the HITH program successfully treated 5300 patients, emphasizing the benefits of shorter hospital stays and home-based care. Patients with conditions like cellulitis, pneumonia, deep vein thrombosis, and more can now be managed at home, avoiding unnecessary hospital visits.

Additionally, with the help of virtual care technology, healthcare professionals can now monitor patients remotely through video calls. This innovative approach not only benefits patients but also frees up almost 9000 hospital bed days each year.
