High Court Adjourns Labor Dispute Case Involving UAP Insurance South Sudan
The High Court recently adjourned a case over a labor dispute involving former national staff of UAP Insurance South Sudan, a subsidiary of the UAP Old Mutual Group, East Africa. The case was dismissed to 25 October, as Advocate Marko Reech Chan, representing the terminated national staff, explained to reporters.
During the session, Advocate Chan highlighted a contradiction in the case, with the defense team presenting two conflicting documents. One document stated that the national staff were terminated and paid their benefits, while another claimed that the labor ministry ordered the company to reinstate the terminated staff.
Advocate Chan emphasized the importance of the reinstatement orders from the Ministry of Labor as the key point in the case and called for a fair resolution to the dispute. However, the defense counsel representing the UAP Old Mutual Company stated that the case had already been resolved by the labor ministry and the staff had received their benefits.
The next session of the case will focus on the point of law, as both parties seek a resolution to the ongoing dispute.
