Hezbollah backs Lebanon ceasefire as Israel intensifies offensive

CNN

Hezbollah officially supports efforts for a ceasefire in Lebanon, breaking from its previous stance of linking it to the conflict in Gaza. Deputy Secretary General Naim Qassem emphasized the need for a ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations to address other details collaboratively.

The conflict began when Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel in solidarity with Hamas. Qassem’s recent speech focused on achieving a ceasefire in Lebanon without tying it to Gaza. Despite this, the situation remains tense, with Israel targeting Hezbollah in limited ground operations.

The violence has led to significant casualties and displacement in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has issued warnings to Lebanon and urged them to resist Hezbollah’s influence to avoid further destruction.

Although talks of a ceasefire have surfaced, Hezbollah remains defiant, signaling readiness to continue the fight against Israel if necessary.

Recent rocket barrages from Lebanon towards Israeli cities indicate ongoing tensions, prompting Israel to extend its military operations into Lebanon.
