Taoiseach Simon Harris to Meet President Biden to Commemorate 100 Years of Irish-US Relations

Irish Taoiseach Simon Harris is set to meet with US President Joe Biden in Washington to celebrate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Ireland and the United States. The meeting will involve discussions on global issues, particularly focusing on the situations in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Mr. Harris expressed anticipation for the meeting, emphasizing the shared values between the two nations in addressing challenges like the crisis in Gaza and the broader Middle East. He highlighted the need for diplomatic solutions to bring peace and security to the region.

The Taoiseach also acknowledged the strong relationship between Ireland and the US, thanking the US for its support of peace and reconciliation efforts in Ireland.

President Biden had to postpone a planned reception at the White House due to Hurricane Milton, but extended a formal invitation to the Taoiseach during the UN General Assembly in New York. The event at Georgetown University will also commemorate a century of Irish-US relations.
