Chinese Envoy Urges Restraint to Prevent Further Escalation in Middle East
A Chinese envoy, Fu Cong, called for all parties to exercise restraint and avoid provocative actions to prevent the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. Fu emphasized the need for immediate action to maintain peace in the region and address the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which is causing civilian casualties and spreading to Lebanon.
Fu stressed the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity while condemning violent attacks on civilians. He highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire and a two-state solution for Palestine. Fu also addressed the Ukraine crisis, urging for peace and dialogue to find a political resolution.
During the UN General Assembly session, Fu advocated for Security Council reform to enhance representation and voice of developing countries. He emphasized the need to prevent the Council from becoming a platform for geopolitical confrontation. Fu’s remarks underscored the importance of promoting peace and dialogue in the face of escalating conflicts worldwide.
