Finance Ministry clarifies: Chinese engineers killed in Karachi attack are not related to IPP talks.

The tragic incident in Karachi involving the death of two Chinese engineers has sparked a wave of clarification from the Finance Ministry. Contrary to earlier statements, the engineers were not involved in negotiations with the government regarding independent power producers (IPPs). The explosion near Jinnah International Airport resulted in the loss of three lives and injuries to several others.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed the identity of the deceased engineers as employees of the Port Qasim Electric Power Company. Despite Finance Minister Aurangzeb’s mention of negotiations with Chinese IPPs, the ministry clarified that the engineers in question were not part of these discussions.

The incident prompted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to vow to bring those responsible to justice, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the lives and property of Chinese nationals in Pakistan. Security measures have been heightened in various cities to protect foreigners involved in development projects and business activities.

As Pakistan grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals working in the country.
