Fatal attack in Rumbek Centre leaves one dead

Tragedy struck in Rumbek Central County, Lakes State when armed men attacked the Deng-Nhial residential area, resulting in one fatality and another injury. Lakes State Police Spokesperson Maj Elijah Mabor Makuac identified the suspected attackers as belonging to the Nielniel section of the Pakam community in Rumbek North County.

Reacting to the incident, civil society activist Daniel Laat Kon expressed concerns about the rising insecurity in the state, attributing the violence to revenge killings. He called on the State government to bolster security measures, especially through increased town patrolling in areas like Maborngap, Akuac, and Deng-Nhial which lack adequate protection.

With the lack of security patrols in residential neighborhoods, there is a pressing need for the authorities to prioritize the safety of the citizens and prevent further loss of lives. As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, it is crucial for the government to take swift action in ensuring the well-being and security of all residents.
