Exciting news as the Dáil is set to approve two energy credits announced in Budget 2025 aimed at easing the burden of high cost-of-living. Despite inflation easing, the Government argues the need for these credits, which will be approved in the Electricity Costs (Emergency Measures) Domestic Accounts Bill today.
The first energy credit of €125 will be available to consumers after 1 November, with a second credit of the same amount coming into effect on 1 January 2025. Taoiseach Simon Harris stated that these credits are vital in response to the high cost-of-living, showing the government’s commitment to listening to and delivering for the people.
However, opposition parties believe this move is merely a strategic ploy to sway the upcoming election.
