Broken Promise: Government Fails to Implement Tax-Free Threshold

The Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska) made a bold promise to increase the tax-free allowance to 60,000 PLN within their first 100 days in office. However, almost ten months after Donald Tusk’s return to power, this pledge remains unfulfilled, signaling a possible abandonment of the plan.

Initially included as one of their 100 specific goals for the first 100 days of governance, the tax-free allowance hike is now missing from the recently adopted state financial strategy that maps out budget plans until 2028, according to RMF FM reports.

Despite assurances of significant tax cuts, the government’s failure to deliver on this promise has not gone unnoticed. A recent survey from July 2024 revealed that over half of respondents believe the government is falling short on their electoral promises. The absence of the anticipated tax relief has left many Poles feeling deceived and questioning the credibility of the Civic Coalition.
