Boeing and Striking Union to Resume Talks on Tuesday – Other Media Updates

After 25 days of a strike, negotiations between Boeing and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have yet to yield a resolution. Both parties met with federal mediators on Monday, with talks set to continue on Tuesday.

The union is pushing for a 40% pay increase over four years and the reinstatement of a defined-benefit pension that was cut a decade ago. While Boeing offered a 30% raise and the return of a performance bonus in their “best and final” offer last month, the union deemed it insufficient based on member feedback.

The strike has led to a halt in production for Boeing’s popular 737 MAX jet, as well as their 777 and 767 widebody planes. This disruption comes at a challenging time for Boeing, as they face profitability issues in their defense division.
