Biden cancels Germany trip, Ukraine summit delayed

US Military Base Summit Postponed

A summit at the US Ramstein military base in Germany, where leaders were set to discuss aiding Ukraine’s defense against Russia, has been postponed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was expected to present his plan to end the Russian invasion of his country. The delay was due to US President Joe Biden’s decision to stay and manage extreme weather conditions in Florida.

Future meetings of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will be announced later. Zelenskyy previously requested more weapons and clearance to use them deeper into Russian territory at the last meeting in September.

Biden’s Foreign Trips Canceled

Biden was scheduled to visit Germany and Angola but will not travel due to the ongoing hurricane threat in Florida. A planned meeting with key European allies – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer – has also been canceled.

The US state of Florida is preparing for Hurricane Milton, following Hurricane Helene’s recent devastation. As millions evacuate, the region braces for another major storm.
